I purchased this camera to replace my olympus evolt e300. i chose it because i already have the Rebel XT, which i love also. If your looking for an enexpensive digital slr camera, with excellent image quality, this is the one. It has a large 2.5 lcd screen for viewing your shots. 10 mega pixel, its small body form is light and easy to handle. I own a portriat studio where i depend on having a fast camera. This is it. This camera is the big brother to the Rebel Xt which is still a great camera. The Rebel XTi is priced just right, and it works well with canon's full line up of lenses. If your looking to move up from point & shoot to a digital slr, i say check this one out.. or its sibiling

I have owned many digi cams and the REbel tx was great, but the XTI has made the 10meg jump. This cameras tech specs are a lot better than the cameras at most portrate studios. Sears still uses the olympus e1 that sports 5 megs. At 1600 iso I get wonderful images at any light source. I urge anyone buying this cam to use the P and M modes due to the fact that auto modes on digi cams dont take nearly as good of pics as when you learn to shoot like a pro. as most digi cams the auto focus can be a bit off, and thats why I urge you to use a more manual aproach. I DO LOVE THIS CAM THOUGH. If you are thinking of buying this cam or the Nikon D80 dont blow your money on the more expensive d80. I have seen the photos and there isnt any diference even in the lab. Well I think that is about it. LOL

Pros: Great focus, 10meg, lens stabilizer, great 1600 iso images without grain. AWSOME CAMERA!!!!!
Cons: nothing to hold the lens cap on. transfer software sucks. not a big deal.

I just got this camera yesterday - this is my FIRST DLSR - and I absolutely LOVE it!! I have so much to learn, but it's pretty easy to figure it out as I go....I RULY recommend this camera to anyone looking for a DSLR...I'm normally a Nikon girl, but I'm so happy with this purchase, my opinion of Canon has been upgraded also! If you have a Rebel XT, I don't recommend upgrading, b/c other than the sixe of the screen and the 2MP difference, there isn't ENOUGH of a difference to spend the money, but this is the BEST camera i've ever used...wow.

This is the first SLR I have ever used and I plan on keeping it for a very long time. At first I thought all SLR's are very confusing and will take forever to get used to but I quickly got to know the camera inside and out. The 15-85mm lens that comes with it I do not recommend and I suggest you spend the extra bucks on a higher quality lens like from sigma. Even though it isn't at the level of some of the thousand dollar cameras, I don't think anybody will notice the difference in the pictures it produces.

Pros: easy to use with all of the features any SLR has
Cons: not the image quality I expected, but fixable with quality lenses

The XTI is a good camera, I bought it because I have been a Canon user and my equipment is mostly Canon.
Although the XTI is a good camera, I have been disappointed by the exposure metering system. the sensor needs to be tweaked constantly for perfect exposure, at that price and from Canon, you would expect availability of spot metering. The flash is very limited in used and the exposure is inconsistent.
The camera is easy to use overall and over a wide variety of shooting options. I would avoid the kit lens if you can afford and go with a better lens from the traditional line up.
The body is very compact and light, I would recommentd the BG3 handle and IS lenses to compensate.

I bought this camera 3 months ago because I take a lot of pictures of my grandsons sporting events (wrestling and baseball). The automatic controls gave me great close-ups of action on the mat and field. I bought a 250 telephoto lens for it also. I am taking a photographic class and am learning to use the manual controls and it is not easy. The camera is a wonderful piece of equipment and takes exceptional pictures. I do a lot of flower photography also and it is great for that also. This camera will do anything you want and it is a very good beginner digital, but read the manual and learn your controls AND EXPERIMENT.
