The Sony EyeToy package includes the EyeToy USB Camera and a disc containing a collection of 12 mini-games. The revolutionary EyeToy USB camera plugs into one of the two available ports on the front of a PlayStation 2 system, and uses unique motion-tracking technology to project the player’s image on screen as the focal point of the gaming action. EyeToy takes full advantage of the power of PlayStation 2 and encourages performance, interaction and laughter, so people of all ages can instantly become the star of their own game. Not available on any other gaming platform, EyeToy includes a collection of 12 mini-games where players are tasked with physically performing the moves needed to win the games. By simply plugging the EyeToy USB Camera into one of the USB ports on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system and placing the EyeToy USB Camera on top of or below the television, players of all ages literally become the main character of the game. They must then use their arms, legs, feet, head and more to participate in the wide variety of interactive games and show off their hand-eye coordination, skill, rhythm, speed and style. Using a unique motion-tracking technology, the EyeToy USB Camera projects the player on screen while their body movements are instantaneously translated into non-stop gaming action. Additionally, EyeToy can be used for video messaging, adding to the expanding capabilities of PlayStation 2. Using the EyeToy USB camera, up to 60 seconds of personal video messages can be recorded onto a Memory Card (8MB) (PlayStation2) and left for friends and family. Various backgrounds are available, allowing each message to be specially made for any occasion. A visual indicator will alert others of a saved message, so there is no more need for “sticky” notes that can get lost.EyeToy includes 12 exciting interactive games based on music, puzzles, sports and other original genres. Each mini-game requires the player to use their body in unique ways, from quick jabs in Boxing Chump, high leg kicking in Kung Foo, rhythmically tapping hands and feet in Beat Freak, and even using high-knees and headers in Keep Ups. The multiplayer mode offers numerous additional challenges and a chance to compete against and laugh with, and at, friends. With no need for a controller, anyone can have fun with EyeToy, and no previous gaming experience is required.
